Javeri Mascherano gave an end to his time at Barcelona by signing for Hebei China Fortune.
The 33-year-old joined the Chinse Super League side after eight years spent at Camp Nou, following his arrival there from Liverpool in 2010.
Alongside Gerard Pique, the Argentine won four La Liga titles, four Copa del Reys and the Champions League twice.

Speaking at a farewell ceremony today, Mascherano said the secret to his and Barcelona’s success over the past eight years has been the ‘spectacular people’ in the dressing room.

“I feel privileged,” he said. “That the people you work with on a daily basis value you so is the best gift and motivation.
“The dressing room has been the secret over the years. When I arrived I found a spectacular group of people.”

Lionel Messi looks particularly emotional as he says: “I’m keeping everything that we have done together here at the club. Good things and bad things.
“We’ve been here a long time together and it’s been beautiful to share all these things with you.

“I’m sending you a big hug and once again I wish you all the best. We’ll keep seeing each other. Thanks, Masche. Huge hug.”
Having played together for the Argentina national team, Messi and Mascherano were very close at Barcelona.
Mascherano thinks the world of Messi, too, and back in 2012, he used 14 words to perfectly describe the kind of man his international teammate is:
“Although he may not be human, it’s good that Messi still thinks he is.
