Hazard has made the Ballon d’Or shortlist three times in the last four years, although he has never finished higher than eighth in the voting.
Hazard has only scored 12 goals and provided four assists this season, but he feels he needs to be more selfish if he wants to win the award.
“He [father] always told me that,” Hazard told BBC
“Maybe it’s true.
“I think, in football now, if you want to win something like the Ballon d’Or or [to be the] top-scorer, you need to be selfish. But I’m not like this, not at all. I’m just who I am.”
The Belgium international has made 299 appearances for the Blues, scoring 88 goals and providing 75 assists.
