Eden Hazard has admitted that finishing outside the top four this season would be “not good” for Chelsea FC.
The Blues have struggled to produce consistent form in the Premier League this term under Antonio Conte to leave their hopes of finishing in the top four in serious doubt.
Chelsea FC are currently fifth in the table and looking increasingly like they will have to settle for a spot in the Europa League next term, despite having won the Premier League title in style last season.
The west London side have been in stuttering form in 2018 and their failure to produce consistent results has left them way off the pace in the race for Champions League qualification.
Chelsea FC won the Premier League title in style in Conte’s first campaign at the club last season, when they did not have the distraction of any European football
Hazard says that the Blues will simply have to accept the fact that they are not in the Champions League and aim to win the Premier League next season if they do indeed miss out on a top-four finish.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports before Chelsea FC’s trip to Southampton, Hazard said: “I think it’s not good, because you want to play Champions League every year.
“So we try to give everything to play the best way we can to finish in the top four.
“Like I say before, if we are not in the top four, we will play next year for the Premier League, that’s it.”
Chelsea FC will take on Southampton in the FA Cup semi-finals later this month.
