If there’s one thing the Spanish rumour media really like at the moment, and for the past year or so, it’s linking Marco Asensio to a big Premier League club before saying ‘tough, you can’t have him’.
That seems to be the way Don Balon are going with Asensio to Chelsea at the moment, but they’re still in the building-the-story-up phase.
It’s claimed Real Madrid need to worry because a big European club is working to ‘accelerate’ the signing of Asensio. That club is Chelsea and they’re said to be moving ‘very seriously’ with their efforts over the transfer.
No hyped up Chelsea transfer claim would be fitting without a mention of owner Roman Abramovich and it’s claimed emissaries working on behalf of the Russian have already contacted Asensio to try to convince him over the move, all behind Florentino Perez’s back.
Chelsea and their owner are ‘willing to do everything’ to make the transfer happen, and even Alvaro Morata is said to be pushing his club, telling them Asensio would be a great signing. That may not be the best seal of approval at the moment.
