Chelsea forward, Eden Hazard has revealed what he told teammate, Willian, shortly before the Brazilian scored against Barcelona in the Champions League round of 16 on Tuesday.
Willian broke the deadlock at Stamford Bridge on the 62nd minutes, with a crisp strike past Barcelona’s goalkeeper, Marc-André ter Stegen.
Willian’s strike – which was cancelled out by Lionel Messi 13 minutes later – came after he hit the post twice in the first half.
Hazard told Chelsea’s official website, “I said to him [Willian] that he needed to shoot in the goal and not try to touch the post.
“I said that to him in the first half and you saw in the second half he scored the goal. I’m happy for him, he played really well. ‘He’s a top player and he showed that.”
Antonio Conte’s men impressed in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League clash, but Messi’s goal – his first against the Blues – gave the visitors a crucial advantage ahead of the return leg next month.
Hazard added, “[We need to be] more than perfect,’ Hazard said, looking ahead to Chelsea’s trip to the Nou Camp. We want to keep a clean sheet, for sure, and we will need to score if we want to go through.
“We have three weeks to be ready for the game and we will give everything.”
