That’s according to Spanish news outlet Don Balon who say the
Argentine superstar didn’t appreciate the former Valencia ace getting the
nod.
Gomes started in an attacking trio with Luis Suarez and Messi.
However, the Portuguese attacker underwhelmed and Messi repeatedly
looked frustrated with his team-mate during the La Liga clash.
Don Balon say Messi would prefer Denis Suarez to be given a run in the
team.
Despite the 2-0 win, Barca were far from convincing.
Messi opened the scoring the first-half with a cool finish.

But Bilbao dominated the second
half, with Raul Garcia heading
against the bar and Aritz Aduriz
drawing a tidy save from Marc-
Andre ter Stegen.
Athletic were caught on the
counter late on as Paulinho, who
had rattled the bar in the first half, slotted home.
Gomes was replaced with eight minutes by Cabral Semedo.
The 24-year-old was on the cusp of a move to Tottenham in August.
But a transfer failed to materialise as Spurs tried to get a deal through on
deadline day.
Gomes, who only joined Barca from Valencia last summer, also suffered
a stop-start campaign last season.
He doesn’t appear to be part of Valverde’s long-term plans and could be
shipped out in the New Year.
