BARCELONA icon Lionel Messi showed his class once again as his side thumped Huesca 8-2 in La Liga on Sunday evening.

The league champions went a goal behind to the smallest club to ever play in the top flight of Spanish football after just two minutes of play.

But it didn't take long for Barcelona to turn on the style at the Nou Camp as they were soon leading 3-2 at half-time.

However, one of the main talking points came in the second period, where the Catalan side scored five goals without reply to please home fans.
Messi had netted two during the clash when Luis Suarez went down in the penalty area in the 92nd minute.

The Argentinian had the chance to claim his 31st La Liga hat-trick by taking the spot-kick.
But Lionel Messi instead opted to let Suarez step up from 12 yards as he himself grabbed his second goal of the match.
And football fans from around the world reacted to the Barcelona captain's incredible gesture.

"Lionel Messi on a hat-trick has just let Luis Suarez take the penalty... Not sure Ronaldo & Neymar would do that," one fan tweeted.
Messi lets Suarez take it when he could've easily had a hat-trick. My captain," one wrote.
"He’s shattered every goalscoring record there is to break, and somehow managed to do so whilst being the most unselfish player in the history of the sport," another added.
And one fan cheekily quipped: "Messi, who was on a hat trick, gives a penalty to Suarez. 8-2. Someone in Turin is throwing furniture around."

Barcelona now have three wins from as many league games and sit level with Real Madrid at the top of La Liga.
Los Blancos seem to be coping without Cristiano Ronaldo, as Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale made light work of Leganes on Saturday evening.
