Andres Iniesta’s 22 year association with Barcelona looks as if it is fast approaching it’s end.
The legendary midfielder has been one of the club’s greatest ever players, but at 33-years-old, it is apparent he is on the decline.
The Spaniard has been finding first team action hard to come by in the past few years, and with the January signing of Philippe Coutinho and the impending summer arrival of Arthur, the issue is set to worsen for Iniesta.
And despite signing a lifetime contract just last year, the 33-year-old has admitted he is seriously considering a move to China at the end in the summer.
“Before April 30 I have to make the decision whether I’m still in Barcelona or I’m going to China,” Iniesta said after Barcelona’s 3-0 victory against Chelsea last week. “I have to assess what is best for me and for the club.

“It is a decision that I will communicate to the club first and then you will find out. I will make a decision before April 30. It will be the most honest for me and for the club.”

BARCELONA HAVE MADE A DECISION

It has previously been believed that Barcelona chiefs will respect whatever decision Iniesta makes about his future, but it is now being reported that senior figures at the club are now attempting to convince him to stay.
Sport report that Barcelona still think he has a key part to play at the club, both on and off the pitch.
As well as the quality he brings to the midfield, he is also deemed crucial in overseeing the development of Coutinho and Arthur; both of which need time to adapt to the philosophy at the club.
And Ernesto Valverde also thinks extremely highly of the Spaniard, deeming him to be irreplaceable.

So it seems Barcelona are doing all they can to try and convince him to stay, but ultimately, it’s Iniesta’s decision whether he stays, or leaves for the riches that China is offering him
