Real Madrid’s new Brazilian wonderkid Vinicius Junior keeps on writing the headlines in Brazil for breaking records held by the world’s most expensive player, Neymar, from his time playing in his home country.
The 17-year-old signed for Los Blancos last season, and will reportedly complete his €45 million (R655 million) move after the current season.
He is only eligible to play for the Spanish giants when he turns 18, which will happen on 12 July, and reports suggest he will join Real for their 2018/19 pre-season training.
Vinicius recently broke Neymar’s personal milestone of seven goals in his first 1500 minutes of senior football when taking his tally to eight goals for his club Flamengo earlier this season.
He has now added to his record hunt by scoring his first goals in the Copa Libertadores, the South American version of the UEFA Champions League, at the age of just 17 years and eight months, netting twice against Ecuadorian side CS Emelec.
Neymar, meanwhile, was 19 years and one month old when he broke his Copa Libertadores duck in March 2011 with Santos, as ASpointed out.
The Paris Saint-Germain superstar, though, had started more games across his first 25 senior appearances, making the first XI in eight matches, while Vinicius was included in Flamengo’s starting line-up just four times in his first 25 senior games.
Vinicius is also ahead of his famous countryman when it comes to goals at Brazil U17 level, having scored 12 times in 15 appearances already. Neymar, meanwhile, netted just one goal in three games at U17 level.
Neymar made his debut for Brazil’s senior team aged 18 years and six months, while Vinicius is yet to be called up to the Selecao.
