ETHAN AMPADU joined Chelsea this summer as a complete unknown and has been training with the first team ahead of tonight’s Carabao Cup clash against Nottingham Forest.

Who is Ethan Ampadu?

Ampadu was born in Exeter on 14 September 2000 and is the son of former professional Arsenal, West Brom and Swansea midfielder Patrick Kwame Ampadu.
Coming through the Exeter City youth system, Ampadu made his senior debut on 9 August 2016 in a League Cup match against Brentford.
He became the club's youngest ever player at just 15 years 10 months and 26 days and made his full debut a week later in a 1-0 home defeat to Crawley Town.

Ampadu by nature is a defensive midfielder but has previously featured at centre half.

Who is he eligible to play for?

He is eligible to play for England, Ireland, Ghana and Wales but has chosen to represent the Dragons.
At 16 he was called up by Chris Coleman the senior Wales squad ahead of their World Cup qualifier with Serbia in May.
When asked about his call up, Coleman to reporters: “In terms of his ability, he’s capable of being with us, he’s an excellent young player with a fantastic attitude.
"We may need to call upon him and I’ve got no doubt if we need to do so he’ll be fine."

He's got an old head on young shoulders
Exeter’s director of football Steve Perryman

So how good is he?

Following his first professional start, Exeter manager Paul Tisdale said: "The biggest compliment I can pay him is that he plays like a 35-year-old.
"It was a real delight to see him play and you keep forgetting he's only 16."
Former Tottenham star and now Exeter’s director of football Steve Perryman had this to say: "He's got an old head on young shoulders, which is a bit of a cliché.
"Nothing fazes him, as he's composed, he reads the game and he talks to players of a more senior level.
“He's not acting the youngster but he's humble enough to know his place and on the field he delivers – what more do you want? It's

fantastic, really."
